Surah 77 Al-Mursalat (THE EMISSARIES, WINDS SENT FORTH)

Verse:001
Dr. Mohsin : By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allâh) sent forth one after another.
Pickthal : By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another
Yusuf Ali : By the (Winds) Sent Forth one after another (to man's profit);


Verse:002
Dr. Mohsin : And by the winds that blow violently,
Pickthal : By the raging hurricanes,
Yusuf Ali : Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts,


Verse:003
Dr. Mohsin : And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain;
Pickthal : By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive;
Yusuf Ali : And scatter (things) far and wide;


Verse:004
Dr. Mohsin : And by the Verses (of the Qur'ân) that separate the right from the wrong.
Pickthal : By those who winnow with a winnowing,
Yusuf Ali : Then separate them, one from another,


Verse:005
Dr. Mohsin : And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,
Pickthal : By those who bring down the Reminder,
Yusuf Ali : Then spread abroad a Message,


Verse:006
Dr. Mohsin : To cut off all excuses or to warn;
Pickthal : To excuse or to warn,
Yusuf Ali : Whether of Justification or of Warning?


Verse:007
Dr. Mohsin : Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.
Pickthal : Surely that which ye are promised will befall.
Yusuf Ali : Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass.


Verse:008
Dr. Mohsin : Then when the stars lose their lights;
Pickthal : So when the stars are put out,
Yusuf Ali : Then when the stars become dim;


Verse:009
Dr. Mohsin : And when the heaven is cleft asunder;
Pickthal : And when the sky is riven asunder,
Yusuf Ali : When the heaven is cleft asunder;


Verse:010
Dr. Mohsin : And when the mountains are blown away;
Pickthal : And when the mountains are blown away,
Yusuf Ali : When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust;


Verse:011
Dr. Mohsin : And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed;
Pickthal : And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed -
Yusuf Ali : And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect)?


Verse:012
Dr. Mohsin : For what Day are these signs postponed?
Pickthal : For what day is the time appointed?
Yusuf Ali : For what Day are these (Portents) deferred?


Verse:013
Dr. Mohsin : For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).
Pickthal : For the Day of Decision.
Yusuf Ali : For the Day of Sorting out.


Verse:014
Dr. Mohsin : And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out?
Pickthal : And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! -
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out?


Verse:015
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:016
Dr. Mohsin : Did We not destroy the ancients?
Pickthal : Destroyed We not the former folk,
Yusuf Ali : Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)?


Verse:017
Dr. Mohsin : So shall We make later generations to follow them.
Pickthal : Then caused the latter folk to follow after?
Yusuf Ali : So shall We make later (generations) follow them.


Verse:018
Dr. Mohsin : Thus do We deal with the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals)!
Pickthal : Thus deal We ever with the guilty.
Yusuf Ali : Thus do We deal with men of sin.


Verse:019
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:020
Dr. Mohsin : Did We not create you from a despised water (semen)?
Pickthal : Did We not create you from a base fluid
Yusuf Ali : Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?


Verse:021
Dr. Mohsin : Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),
Pickthal : Which We laid up in a safe abode
Yusuf Ali : The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed.


Verse:022
Dr. Mohsin : For a known period (determined by gestation)?
Pickthal : For a known term?
Yusuf Ali : For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)?


Verse:023
Dr. Mohsin : So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things).
Pickthal : Thus We determined (things). How excellent is Our determining!
Yusuf Ali : For We do determine (according to need); for We are the Best to determine (things)!


Verse:024
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:025
Dr. Mohsin : Have We not made the earth a receptacle?
Pickthal : Have We not made the earth a receptacle
Yusuf Ali : Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together


Verse:026
Dr. Mohsin : For the living and the dead?
Pickthal : Both for the living and the dead,
Yusuf Ali : The living and the dead,


Verse:027
Dr. Mohsin : And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water?
Pickthal : And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein?
Yusuf Ali : And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?


Verse:028
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:029
Dr. Mohsin : (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny!
Pickthal : (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny;
Yusuf Ali : (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false!


Verse:030
Dr. Mohsin : "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns,
Pickthal : Depart unto the shadow falling threefold,
Yusuf Ali : "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns,


Verse:031
Dr. Mohsin : "Neither shady, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."
Pickthal : (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame.
Yusuf Ali : "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze.


Verse:032
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a (huge log of wood)],
Pickthal : Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles,
Yusuf Ali : "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts,


Verse:033
Dr. Mohsin : As if they were yellow camels or bundles of ropes.
Pickthal : (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue.
Yusuf Ali : "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)."


Verse:034
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:035
Dr. Mohsin : That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it),
Pickthal : This is a day wherein they speak not,
Yusuf Ali : That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak,


Verse:036
Dr. Mohsin : And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse.
Pickthal : Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses.
Yusuf Ali : Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas.


Verse:037
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:038
Dr. Mohsin : That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together!
Pickthal : This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together.
Yusuf Ali : That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall Gather you together and those before (you)!


Verse:039
Dr. Mohsin : So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allâh swt )!
Pickthal : If now ye have any wit, outwit Me.
Yusuf Ali : Now, if ye have a trick (or plot) use it against Me!


Verse:040
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:041
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs.
Pickthal : Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,
Yusuf Ali : As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).


Verse:042
Dr. Mohsin : And fruits, such as they desire.
Pickthal : And fruits such as they desire.
Yusuf Ali : And (they shall have) fruits? all they desire.


Verse:043
Dr. Mohsin : "Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do.
Pickthal : (Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did.
Yusuf Ali : "Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness)."


Verse:044
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers see V.2:112)
Pickthal : Thus do We reward the good.
Yusuf Ali : Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.


Verse:045
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:046
Dr. Mohsin : (O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).
Pickthal : Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.
Yusuf Ali : (O ye Unjust!) eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners.


Verse:047
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:048
Dr. Mohsin : And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers)[].
Pickthal : When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down!
Yusuf Ali : And when it is said to them "Prostrate yourselves!" They do not so.


Verse:049
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of truth!


Verse:050
Dr. Mohsin : Then in what statement after this (the Qur'ân) will they believe?
Pickthal : In what statement, after this, will they believe?
Yusuf Ali : Then what Message, after that will they believe in?
